![]() ![]() ![]() The narrative features two main protagonists who begin on opposite ends of the chain of command on the USS Resolute: First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineer Carter Diaz. It takes two Carter Diaz starts off as a regular engineer in the lower decks. More than a few Trekkies will be able to point out some errors, but by and large, Resurgence captures the tone and the particulars of the Star Trek series admirably. Notable returning characters like Ambassador Spock and Commander Riker feel authentic, and all the jargon about ionic interference, hyperspanners, and quantized crystallization fit well when mentioned in the dialogue. But I still came away impressed with the amount of detail and care that went into the cameos and the ship's set design. I would consider myself a casual fan of the franchise, having watched a lot of The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine as a teenager. More importantly, the game feels like you're experiencing a full story arc of Star Trek episodes. It's about making pivotal choices and seeing how they impact other characters and, ultimately, the ending. The game has some minor exploration, a lot of quick-time events with fairly easy button prompts, more than several mini-games, and a few puzzles using the familiar Tricorder. The narrative is spread throughout 40 chapters, with most lasting about ten to fifteen minutes, so there are plenty of cutscenes and content to get through. Star Trek: Resurgence plays like a typical Telltale game if you had to get through all five episodes in one go. A shining star Jara Rydek fills in the vacant First Officer position on the USS Resolute, but not everyone is pleased by this. The outcome is a decent narrative-based adventure that largely feels authentic to the series and has plenty of dramatic twists and turns, though there are many places where the game isn’t as polished as it could be. I didn’t mind that the game was delayed several times from its original spring 2022 release date, because it was important that it felt finished for the sake of future Star Trek games. When Dramatic Labs, a studio with over 20 developers who once worked at Telltale Games, first showed off the reveal trailer for the game back at the 2021 Game Awards, I was cautiously optimistic. Kurtzman and Paramount really need to think about finding a licensing partner that can create a popular massively multiplayer game for the younger crowd.Star Trek: Resurgence is a game I wanted to succeed just on paper, as there hasn’t been a high-profile Star Trek game in the last five years. Star Trek Online is at a point of maturity where it can be intimidating to get into and hard to find a group of younger players to team with. These kinds of things have a place in the dynamic. Resurgence doesn’t look to be massively multiplayer, but it may still be able to match up with one player cooperatively. This is all the more so because GenZ were so physically isolated by COVID and are all the more socially engaged through their gaming and related chat groups. It’s licensing to build demand for the original television and film content. It’s not just licensing for more revenue. ![]() We hesitate to install outside that platform.Īs an aside, the gaming market is one of the key ways to drive teens to a franchise. It says PC release is coming in May, so I had assumed that would include Steam. Throughout the gripping story, players can interact with the Star Trek universe like never before, with moments of authentic action and critical decisions that shape the broader narrative in subtle and unexpected ways. Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz highlights how the mission plays out from the lower decks, caught up in the events in his own unique way. RESOLUTE’s First Officer Jara Rydek is part of the diplomatic envoy led by Ambassador Spock that’s tasked with finding a resolution – and uncovering the ultimate source of this tense situation. Players experience the conflict and larger mystery from two key perspectives. Here is the official game synopsis:Ī worker uprising threatens the tenuous peace between two alien civilizations, and Starfleet is forced to intervene. It tells an original story with players assuming the role of two principal characters, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz. Resurgence is set shortly after the events of Star Trek Nemesis and it is set on board the USS Resolute. ![]() ![]() Google reserves all rights not expressly granted to you.ģ.4 You may not use the SDK for any purpose not expressly permitted by the License Agreement. Enter the distance for the bike portion of your race (18 miles). Make sure the speed calculator is set to “Calculate time”. Since we are talking about cycling time, we should use the speed calculator. We’ll start with “When can we see you get off the bike?” Say the race I’m doing has an 18 mile bike leg and I think I can average 22mph for that distance. Use the speed calculator to predict your cycling time since cycling rate is measured by miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h). You’ll want to use the pace calculator to predict your run time since running rate is typically measured by how much time it takes to complete a distance, e.g. They’ll do all the calculations for you, all you need to do is enter the distance and average rate and it’ll give you the time it’ll take to complete. Here’s where the pace and speed calculators come into play. Time equals distance divided by rate (t = d/r).
